Pharmacist Prescribing Services
Minor Ailments & more
Our Pharmacists are helping to fill the gap in healthcare.
In 2022, it was reported that 1 in 5 Canadian adults, over 6 million people, did not have a family physician or nurse practitioner for regular care. In response to this shortage, pharmacists across Canada have accepted an expanded scope of practice into help fill the care gap.
The scope of practice, or authority to do different professional tasks, is determined by the Minister of Health in each province or territory in Canada and varies between regions. Some provinces like Alberta, have been prescribing medications for more than 15 years. For pharmacists in BC, this is a new service just starting Spring 2023.
